Digital Hearing Aid Fitting
Hearing Aid Prescription
After a comprehensive hearing test, hearing aid(s) will be preliminarily short-listed based on the degree, type and configuration of hearing loss. Generally, a bigger hearing aid is required for more severe hearing loss. Apart from the test results, audiologist will interview the client to learn about his/her budget, lifestyle, the persons whom he/she converse with, work, other illnesses, etc. Then a suitable hearing aid will be decided upon inputs from the two parties.
Hearing Aid Fine-tuning and Follow-Ups
Hearing aids will be fitted with the hearing test results obtained. After the first fitting, a number of individualized fine-tuning or adjustment may be necessary to optimize the fitting. Audiologist will normally schedule appointments for this purpose. A client is also welcome to book a follow-up appointment whenever he/she feels a fine-tuning is needed.
Hearing Aid Servicing & Repair
Hearing aids need regular servicing to ensure optimum performance. It is recommended to bring the hearing aids for cleaning, drying, wax filter replacement and/or tubing change every 3 months. These minor maintenance works can be done on the spot. Sometimes, hearing aids break down and parts replacement is required. These hearing aids will be sent to our ear lab. Depending on the extent of the problem, the hearing aids should be ready in about 2 – 4 weeks. Within the warranty period, parts and labour costs are normally waived.
Counselling and Aural Rehabilitation Services
Aural rehabilitation is a process of providing training and treatment to improve hearing for those who are affected. This service focuses on adjusting to hearing aids, making the best use of hearing aids, exploring assistive hearing devices to increase speech understanding, and sharing tips to improve communication. These services are normally individualized and preferably involve the client’s significant others.
Assistive Listening Devices (ALD’s) Fitting
ALD’s are any devices that help a person to hear more clearly by overcoming the barriers of noise and distance. ALD’s can be used with most hearing aids and cochlear implants to transmit voices and desired signals (for example phone calls, music, TV) directly to the users. Audiologist will suggest suitable ALD’s based on individual concerns of the client.
